Our team had experience working on B&H’s iOS app. When Google’s Material Design guidelines were being written for Android, we wanted to help revamp their existing Android app and deliver a user-friendly shopping experience.
B&H had an extensive catalogue, with over 500,000 products to keep organized and display in an intuitive way that would encourage its users to convert from shoppers into buyers. Our goal was to build the most beautiful and seamless e-commerce experience on Android. Working with the guidelines for Android’s recently released OS, Lollipop, we set to work.
Google had announced Lollipop to developers just a month before our app was set to launch. But how would we be able to do that in such a short amount of time? In order to ensure that we made such a tight deadline, we worked together to incorporate tools like Recycler View and Card View in the interface. When users open the app, they were able to see over 500,000 items in B&H’s product catalogue.
Users found the experience intuitive and B&H received positive reviews and increased engagement which proved the app was well received, by users and Google itself. After the launch of the B&H Android app, Google used the Android Material Design app as an example to others and to determine Raizlabs’ status as the first domestic Google agency.
