    Overview

This document contains help information for users of MicroMedia Player.   You can download Micromedia player here you can also register the program here.

Micromedia is a flexible video viewer that you can use to watch recorded movies and videos files. The most common use for MicroMedia is to watch recorded TV shows or present video during talks and seminars, but many users find Micromedia a simple tool for watching all sorts of videos.

Because Micromedia supports only very basic commands, you cannot accidentally make a serious mistake using Micromedia. MicroMedia allows you to easily play your video files without the need for a large bulky player. Micromedia loads up quickly and allows you to play your media files without waiting for the player to load.

The player also allows you to hide everything except for the actual media files. Try that with your other players, you can't do it.

This media player also stays on top of your work so you can put it in the corner and continue your work without worrying about the player getting lost under your many windows.

MicroMedia currently supports all media files playable by Windows Media Player and the Quicktime Player. You must have a version of Quicktime already installed to be able to open quicktime files with MicroMedia Player.

    Program Commands

File Open  -This command allows you to open a media file. Micromedia can open any file format that can be opened by Windows Media Player because it hosts the Windows Media Control. Micromedia can easily play MPG, AVI, MPG2 as well as other formats.

Tip:  When opening the player you can click on the MicroMedia logo to open a file.

File Exit  -  This will close your application

Views - There are three views that you can use for watching videos in MicroMedia player. The standard view allows you to see the video, the menu and the windows controls.  These commands are not available for Quicktime movies.

By using the toggle media player controls command you can enable the controls to interfact directly with the video file.

You can also hide all of the controls either by selecting the Hide Controls command or by clicking on the video. You can escape this mode either by clicking on the video again or by pressing the escape key on the keyboard.

Play Commands  -While playing a recorded video you want to spend most of your time watching the video but sometimes you want to see a replay or skip through a commercial. The play commands allow you to easily do this. These commands are not available for Quicktime movies.

Play / Pause -  This will stop the video if it's playing and start it again if it's paused. You can use the shortcut key P to do this while the video is playing.

Skip commercial (30 seconds) - This will fast forward your video exactly 30 seconds. Perfect for skipping through commercials.

Replay (5 seconds) - This will rewind the video 5 seconds so you can see it all over again.

Skip show (30 min) - If you've recorded hours of video this is essential for quickly finding what you want. Don't mess with sliders that don't work.

Tip: When the MicroMedia is in it's tiny mode you can still use the shortcuts without Ctrl for the play commands.   P to play/pause, C to skip commercials, X to replay and V to skip show. The space bar will also pause and play the video.
