Help Information For PHP and ASP Email Manager Newsletter Software

This document provides help information for users of PHP and ASP Email Manager. Additional help is available through our user forum.

What are the server requirements?

• PHP Email Manager - Requires PHP version 4 or higher and an installation of MySQL serverr.

• ASP Email Manager - Requires a Windows based server running IIS 4 or higher. The server needs to support ASP pages and must have one writeable directory.

How do I install the software?

The software comes as a zipped file. Unzip the file and copy the content to your web-server into a new folder.

If you are using PHP email Manager you can open up a webpage and follow the instructions to configure MySQL.

If you are using ASP email Manager you will need to copy all the files to your web server and ensure that the database is in a writeable folder. Once the database is in the proper directory you may need to modify the file "custom.asp" to correctly point to your database. If you open the file custom.asp in an editor it will have additional instructions on how to do this.  The default password for ASP Email Manager is "Welcome".

If your web-server has a control panel that uses "Cpanel" software you can ask your web-host to offer a one click install using our cpanel script.

How do I purchase the software?
The easiest way to purchase the software is to install it on your server and use the built in purchase link. This will purchase the software, generate a serial number and remove any restrictions from the software. 

What Email Components Are Supported?
On PHP email manager we support SMTP email connections. This is the same connection settings that your web-host provided to configure your email account.

On ASP email manager we support all common email components including

• CDONTS By Microsoft

• CDO Message By Microsoft

• ASPMail by ServerObjects

• ASPEMail by Persits

• W3 JMail by Dimac.net

How large a list can I have?
Our mailing list software does not limit the size of your mailing list. We have found that the software works well with lists as large as 10,000 users. 

How do I customize the look?
In the server administration page go to "Change server settings and preferences." The best way to customize is to setup the header and footer for your mailing list. Simply insert the HTML that you would like displayed at the top and bottom of each page. Our software will blend seamlessly into your site.

How do I bulk add users?
If you are migrating users you may need to bulk add users from your previous mailing list. Once you log into your administrator screen select "Add Users." At the bottom of the screen will be a link that says "bulk add multiple email addresses." Using this screen you can paste in many email addresses. Email addresses added this way must be separated by a space, a line break, or a coma.

When sending mail with ASP Email Manager I get the following a VBScript runtime error '800a0046'  - This may be caused by a configuration problem on your email server. You can correct the problem by following these mail server configuration instructions. You can also try changing your servers settings to use a different mail component.
