CallMe Allows you to use callto links to place calls using Vonage

What's a callto link?
On the web there are all sorts of links. You can have email links such as support@raizlabs.com or a web link like www.raizlabs.com but did you know that you can have a telephone link? Such as 1-800-www-dell.or 1-800-flowers If you clicked these link and you don't have our software installed you probably got either an error message or a netmeeting dialog. Neither of these would help you place the call.

But if you have our software installed and you use Vonage your telephone would ring and you would be instantly connected.

Ok I've installed it, now what?
You can use the application's built in dialer to dial numbers directly. You can also use Callto links from a webpage. Unfortunately at present there are few if any Callto links that can be found in webpages. So how do you make a callto link? A call to link looks like this Link Text . You can also create links that have letters in them such as Link Text . Any letters will automatically get converted to their numeric telephone equivalents. After installing you should also be able to test call to links by using the command “callto:617-555-1212” either into the address bar of any browser or into the start -> run dialog box.

If anyone is interested in writing a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook and Internet explorer that uses the callto: protocol, let me know and I will lend a hand or just go for it. Any application or webpage can add support for callto: links. You don't need my permission, it's easy it's fun, go spread the word.

Why is this software free?

We made this software 100% free because there are currently few callto: links in applications and on websites. We see telephone numbers all over the web and it would be very easy to turn these into actionable callto links. The reason people don't do this is because unstill now there was no easy way to get a callto link to actually ring your telephone and work properly. We see our software as an initial step to better integration of computers, telephones and people. You can read more about our thoughts on telephone and PC integration here.

Hey, do you work for a telephone company?
We don't work for a phone company or for Vonage but we are interested in having our software support additional telephone providers in addition to Vonage. If you work for a telephone or cell phone company we would be interested in speaking with you about adding callto: support for your service as well as other features.
