SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 2011) – For the 2011 edition of its annual conference, SolidWorks World, 3D software giant SolidWorks wanted to offer attendees an app that would help them schedule their days and find their way through the expansive Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Having seen Raizlabs’ app for another conference, SolidWorks turned to Raizlabs to develop an app that not only allows attendees to plan their day and find their way through the massive, multi-level convention center, but also helps them engage their fellow attendees through Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and YouTube.

Raizlabs mobilized testing recently with the launch of an iPhone and iPad app for uTest, the world’s largest software testing marketplace. uTest currently utilizes Flash on their website making it inaccessible to users with iOS mobile devices. With customers spanning six continents – and 30,000+ testers spanning the globe – creating an app for the world’s most popular smartphone and tablet was critical to enabling uTest’s community to stay on top of complex and dynamic global testing projects. Raizlabs worked with uTest to create a function-rich, eye-catching, easy-to-use version of their site to provide customers and testers access wherever and whenever they need it.

Over the last few years we’ve been working exclusively on iPhone Apps. 10 Months ago that all changed.
Since entering the mobile space more than 4 years ago, we’ve produced more than 25 apps for the iTunes store, some of which have enjoyed millions of downloads. The development and success of these apps has helped us build our consulting business and our development expertise. We are now branching out beyond iPhone and iPad development; over the last year our Boston based shop has embraced the Android platform by launching three major applications. We’re seeing the interest in Android grow in much the same way that interest in iPhone exploded two years ago.

What does it take to make it to the top of the App Store? In this two part post we’ll experiment to see what we can do on a shoestring budget. We wanted to give the developer community and those curious about the world of apps a look under the hood at the numbers of a specific marketing campaign. (Your results may vary)
Mad*Pow designer with no experience in Xcode and little experience on the Mac platform uses Raizlabs’ CoreContent to develop an iPhone app for the Boston Usability Professionals Association annual conference.
WALTHAM, Massachusetts (June 9, 2010) – Imagine being tapped by your company to produce an iPhone app for a conference of 450 usability professionals. Now imagine that you had never built an app before, didn’t know Objective-C (the language in which iPhone apps are written), and didn’t own, use, or have regular access to a Mac or an iPhone. That’s what happened to Chris McKinney when his employer, New Hampshire-based experience design firm Mad*Pow partnered with Boston’s Raizlabs on a joint project to build an iPhone app for the 2010 Usability Professionals Association conference.

BOSTON, Massachusetts (February 19, 2010) – Raizlabs announces the release of Mother Goose Classic, its kid-tested, Apple-approved nursery rhyme application. Mother Goose Classic features interactive versions of nine beloved rhymes with original animation and music including Humpty Dumpty, Jack Be Nimble, Jack & Jill, Hickory-Dickory-Dock, Little Miss Muffet, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hey-Diddle-Diddle, This Little Piggy and Pat-A-Cake.
The process wasn’t easy. Raizlabs developed its own technology to display interactive animation as part of a broader, designer-friendly content framework for the iPhone. The iPhone famously does not support Flash animation. “I’m really excited about this project, not only because I’m a dad and my daughter loves this app but because it opens up so many possibilities for interactive storytelling,” said Gregory Raiz, founder of Raizlabs.
Animator Dave Counts said “My son and I regularly visit kids’ sites together, but watching him respond to something I helped create was incredibly satisfying. I was working for him as much as I was working for Raizlabs.”
Raizlabs’ Mother Goose Classic is available in the iTunes store. The price is set at $3.99. A free version featuring three complete, animated nursery rhymes has also been approved by Apple.

Read more →Developer blogs and the Twittersphere started to buzz last week with some remarkable news: some new iPhone apps were getting approved much faster, sometimes within a single day… Apple hasn’t said anything publicly about the changes, but it appears that the company is making a conscious effort to simplify and speed up the app approval process. For more about the recent changes, I contacted Greg Raiz, the founder of Raizlabs, a Brookline, MA-based software development house that specializes in iPhone applications.
We recently released an updated version of our travel game JetSetter. The game allows people to compete against each other for travel miles. Flyers can quickly log-in and see who’s racked up the most travel miles in one week, one month or one whole year.
The new version adds the ability to complete against groups of flyers. So you can compete against a group of friends, co-workers or travelers.
