Even better, a dedicated LCD keypad, like having just the left-most keypad from an Optimus Maximus (and a lot cheaper http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/), so you get tactile feedback and don’t have to hassle with plugging it in each time you use it. Extending that would be pretty cool. Also saw "AJAX Remote Buddy" (from a company called IOSprint) which can be tailored to just about anything.
