It would be great to see not just where people get stuck, but what they try to do to get unstuck and I guess how long they try for before giving up.

I've used this service and was very specific in the qualifications of who I wanted to test. They had to knowledge-able about a specific type of integration software: the tester was. Watching him do the requested tests uncovered some very-easy-to-change usability problems. Have a fresh set of eyes is eye-opening. I definitely recommend UserTesting.com

I'm a tester for usertesting.com, and I only receive jobs that are specific to the client's request.

If you need a software developer or system administrator, usertesting.com allows you to specify that and they will only send the request to those qualified individuals...so I wouldn't receive it, but someone else will have the option to complete the assignment if they are qualified and feel capable of meeting your requirements.

It's a great service for what you are paying!

Thanks for posting about this!

I'd never heard of it before and it looks very interesting and like something my company could definitely use.

I have to agree that not being able to specify participants is a downside... we sell niche products so would need to specify "software developers" or "system administrators" for our participants.

I think unaided testing is actually a good thing though, for the reasons you outlined. It would be great to see not just where people get stuck, but what they try to do to get unstuck and I guess how long they try for before giving up.
