I think your last paragraph is very important though, and I believe this is written about in Apple development guidelines as well—when you add features, you risk two things: 1. overcomplicating the interface, which sacrifices the original simplicity and 2. adding extra code may slow down the software, even if a little bit. Keeping things simple, and keeping the features list slim, lowers the risk of these two things happening and makes it easier to create a great product. Loading more features makes things much more challenging—a concept that most companies do not seem to grasp as they blindly overload their software/devices with tons of new features.

Adding extra functionality without the loss of UI simplicity and speed is very very difficult, but then again, this is what makes Apple different.</description>
